Dragonframe

Dragon frame was grand fun, it was less complicated than I expected once we got into the swing of it, and the results are quite quick. I assume it would be more time consuming if you used more than one cut out, but its definitely something I want to try again.

We ended up making one big animation with all of our cut outs together. As a result the animation we made had nothing to do with the project but it was fun to make and watch and in the process we learnt how to use the software and got to experiment with it too so it was still a valuable exercise.

Stop Motion

The gif we made
I did the blue thing under the topic 'metamorphosis'. I like it but I have no particular clue why, it makes nice shapes and the movement is smooth. Animating is fun.

Collage Textures

I wanted to convey a darkness in my collages similar to the themes of his books so I slopped a load of materials onto paper and had a grand old time doing it. I then photocopied them all in black and white so I could reuse the textures and because it levelled out the colours and tones of the messes I'd created.

These are the collages I made with these textures in the theme of crime.

Upon closer inspection one can see a ghostly saxophone man in the third building from the left

Overall they're a bit sloppy but I think I got a vague semblance of the intangible themes I was going for, so thats a start.

In the crit my feedback on collages was as such:
The subtle shadow of figure in darkness is really effective
Too many jazz instruments!
Really nice textures and use of colour to convey atmosphere
Line and collage work in your book is crazy good! Also love the textures of the intangible (lot's of research)
Lovely cut outs, blue collage on the wall is insane
Theme well preserved, blue collaged man seems out of place but is v. cool
Really like the colour
Lovely research with fun characters of authors
The work with the cop in particular was really cheerful

Overall positive feedback but with it being a walk around crit I can't help but think a lot of it is nice for the sake of nice. The blue police man collage I did received the most appreciation which was nice as I was most fond of that one and it took the longest.

Collage

I chose to make my collages of policemen under my theme of crime. I tried to use a few different techniques and materials to play about with the motifs. Overall they're a little visually dissatisfying but I got to try out some new things that I might use later but to a higher standard. Experimenting and whatnot.
